Title
Willow Globe
Description
The Willow Globe (Y Glôb Byw) is a scaled down, living version of the Globe in London. Woven from willow, it is almost completely absorbed by its lush, green surroundings in summer months.
The Willow Globe, which is situated in the mid-Welsh countryside on a working farm, hosts events from April - September. The theatre offers syllabus Shakespeare for schools through workshops, community productions and professional tours: recent performances include Romeo and Juliet, Pericles, and Much Ado About Nothing. There is also an annual performance by the resident Willow Globe Company, who tour throughout Wales and provide workshops for children at the theatre. The theatre prides itself on being the only completely “green” theatre in Wales - which is both literally true in the summer, and true all year round due to its use of sustainable energy generated onsite by three solar panels and a wind turbine.
